Special event Saturday August 16!!
2008 Madison Meander

Once again, the Madison Area Bicycle Club is pleased to offer a simplified “no-frills” version of the Annual Madison Meander. Routes of 20, 35 and 60 miles are offered through beautiful Jefferson, Ripley, Ohio and Switzerland Counties in Southern Indiana. We are providing road markings, cue sheets and maps and with strategically noted country stores and cafés for your refreshment needs.
There will be no official SAG stops or SAG vehicles on the ride, but bicycle club members will be on the road with you to help. We're offering this with a no-frills fee, too, of only $10.00 ! If you are a Madison Area Bicycle Club member or join the MABC ($15 single, $20 family) on ride-day, there is NO CHARGE for the Meander. (It pays to belong!)

20 Mile Route – Mostly flat, easy-rider loop through quiet lanes and parts of Jefferson Proving Grounds.
35 Mile Route – Moderately challenging including three notable climbs.
60 66 Mile Route – More challenging route guaranteed to prepare you for those great Fall rides ! Six Seven big climbs ! Outstanding descents. Update: The "Cro-Magnon" route-mappers have added 6 miles and a climb for the 66-mile "Meanderthal" riders ! However, this route can be shortened to ~60, ~57 or ~50 miles by various short-cuts.

The ride starts on the hilltop at the North Madison Christian Church at 1400 Highway 62 East, about a ˝ mile northeast of Highway 421 in Madison, at 08:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, with parking available.

No PRE-registration is necessary, but please bring a completed registration form (download here, 135kb) with you on the day of the ride. It makes the paperwork so much easier !

This will be a mass start, unless you decide to start earlier on your own. At the registration site you will be able to sign your waiver (required), pick up your ride info, pay your $tenner$ and choose your route. There will be some start-up snacks-bananas, PBJ, etc., to get us going and to pack along if you like. We will provide at least one cell phone number on the day of the ride where you may call if you get hopelessly lost or if your front wheel vanishes while you take a “nature break”. Our experience recently has been that many people have cell phones along for the ride, making contact for true emergencies a sure thing.
